Essential Oils to Help you Manage Your Emotions
When you are stressed, sad, upset, nervous, fearful, tense, angry, disappointed, or grief stricken, what do you do to help handle your emotions? Of course there is joy, hope, pride, amusement, love, inspiration, interest, and gratitude, but it's not our positive emotions that we are trying to keep under control. It's those pesky negative emotions that we need to learn how to deal with in a healthy way.
There are ways to cope and handle emotions and we need to adopt some methods to help bring us out of a negative state of mind. It is our hardships that grow us. Even in the bible, it says:
We can choose to wallow in the negative or we can find ways to cultivate the negative emotions into positive emotions. Do not stay stuck in the negative.
I use a variety of techniques that personally help me to combat negative emotions. My friends and family are my first line of defense. A listening ear of a trusted friend or family member is great therapy. However, I know that I am fully responsible for bringing myself out of my "funk". So, I also tend to spend time alone, reading, studying scripture, meditating, taking a walk to gain a new perspective. I don't want to stay stuck in the negativity.
For all intents in purposes, my main focus here is to focus on how essential oils can be used to help you manage your emotions. The best way to use them is to either diffuse them, add a few drops to a tissue or put in your hands and inhale, or apply them topically to the bottoms of your feet. Another great way to use them is to add a few drops of oil to some Epsom Salts and soak in a hot bath. I recommend using a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, etc (add 5 drops of oil to 1 tablespoon of carrier oil) to any oils applied topically.
Oils for Stress: Bergamot, Roman Chamomile, Lavendar, Frankincense, Clary Sage, Ylang Ylang
Oils for Sadness: Bergamot, Roman Chamomile, Lavendar, Ylang Ylang, Peppermint, Lemon, Grapefruit, Tangerine, Orange
Oils for Nervousness: Orange, Roman Chamomile, Frankincense, Clary Sage, Geranium, Lavendar, Sandalwood
Oils for Anger: Bergamot, Black Pepper, Roman Chamomile, Clary Sage, Geranium, Ginger, Lavendar, Ylang, Ylang
Oils for Anxiety: Basil, Bergamot, Roman Chamomile, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Juniper Berry, Lavendar, Orange, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang
Oils for Poor Concentration: Lavendar, Vetiver, Sweet Basil, Black Pepper, Peppermint
Oils for Lack of Self Confidence: Grapefruit, Frankincense, Lemon, Orange, Bergamot, Ginger, Sandalwood
Essential Oils for Fear: Bergamot, Frankincense, Grapefruit, Lemon, Orange, Roman Chamomile, Vetiver.
I, personally, find the best way to use them is aromatically and I love using my diffusers. Below, find a printable graphic of various blends and see what works best for you! Always take a holistic approach when dealing with any emotional issues, but using essential oils is one great way to combat any negative feelings....
